Kristin Kreuk’s Scoliosis Story

Kristin Kreuk – Actress

Kristin Laura Kreuk scoliosis

Kristin Kreuk was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is  most known for her roles as Lana Lang in the series Smallville and for her role in the Canadian series Edgemont. She currently stars in the series Beauty & the Beast and is also a film producer .

Though she is a self-professed shy person, Kristin was active in high school sports and extracurricular activities.

“My mother, she put my younger sister and I through every course. She wanted us to have every option, so I did swimming, gymnastics, dancing, singing, acting, karate . . . Gymnastics was one of the few things I actually enjoyed, so I stuck with it until grade 11, then I quit.” (Seventeen, March 2003)

Kristin gave up gymnastics, in part due to her scoliosis. This may have been a serendipitous decision because, at her drama teacher’s request, Kristen auditioned and got her first major role in the TV series Edgemont.

Kristin remains active, has a purple belt in Karate and trained in other martial arts for her role in the movie movie Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li.

“I love physical movement. Dance was my favorite thing, and I was a gymnast. I find that expression through movement is easier, in some ways, than expression through words. There’s something very satisfying about the practice of it, even in yoga. It feels centering to use my body, in that way.” Source
